Holiday Travel

We are about to set off on the most American of holiday traditions, The road trip. As a kid growing up in Los Angeles, I have memories of being stuck in stop and go traffic on the 405. The twenty minute drive in light traffic now taking an hour as dad would get us up to five-miles-an-hour before once again coming to a stop. From the backseat, my siblings and I just wanted to get to Grandmas’s house so we could open our presents, and the delay was not welcome at all.

I clearly remember sitting there losing my mind and promising myself I would never live anywhere with traffic. A promise I have mostly managed to keep, with the exception of a few stints in larger cities. To date, the longest holiday trek I have made is 1000 miles. This one is roughly 1200 miles, and will have us driving through Oregon, into Idaho, Utah, Wyoming and into Denver Colorado. Sub-zero temps are expected in Wyoming as we pass through.

I will document this trip as my first official blog post on this site. Wish me luck.

  1. Awesome! I took a little road trip on Christmas Day this year myself. In fairness, the trip was only 3 hours, but with a 20 month year old in the car it felt like an all day adventure.
